Mackinac Island has once again earned national recognition, this time being voted the No. 1 Best Summer Travel Destination in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the fourth year in a row.

The annual contest began with a panel of travel experts curating a list of standout summer vacation destinations across the country. From there, readers cast their votes, ultimately naming Mackinac Island the top destination for summer travel in the United States.

Known for its timeless charm and one-of-a-kind atmosphere, Mackinac Island continues to draw visitors from around the world with its ban on motor vehicles, horse-drawn carriages, bicycle-lined streets, and sweeping Lake Huron views.

USA Today highlighted the Island’s rich history, including attractions such as Fort Mackinac, as well as the outdoor recreation opportunities found throughout Mackinac Island State Park. Visitors can explore miles of hiking and biking trails, limestone bluffs, scenic overlooks, and natural landmarks like Arch Rock during the peak summer season.

The recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for the Island, which remains one of Michigan’s most iconic tourism destinations.
