Lilac season is beginning to take shape on Mackinac Island, and the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau is helping visitors keep track of the blooms with its “Bloom Tracker” updates.

This week’s update featured blooming lilacs along Market Street, in Marquette Park, and at one of the Island’s signature early-blooming trees located across from the Mackinac Island Yacht Club.

“Mackinac Island has a wide variety of early, normal, and late lilac species in a variety of locations so blooms stick around longer than usual,” the Tourism Bureau shared in its latest post.

The Bloom Tracker gives visitors a glimpse at how the Island’s famous lilacs are progressing in the days leading up to the 2026 Mackinac Island Lilac Festival, scheduled for June 5–14th.

The Mackinac Island Lilac Festival, now one of the Island’s signature summer traditions, features events including the Lilac Queen coronation, the Grand Parade, walking tours, garden experiences, live entertainment, and more.

Visitors can follow the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau for continued bloom updates as the festival approaches.
