The Mackinac Island Community Foundation (MICF) is inviting the community to take part in its annual “Nominate and Celebrate” initiative, with public voting now open to determine which local nonprofit organizations will receive grant funding this year.

Voting began April 28 and will remain open through May 19, 2026, giving residents, seasonal workers, and Island supporters the opportunity to recognize the organizations that have made the greatest impact in their lives.

Community members can cast their vote online at MICF.org. The top three organizations selected during this initial voting period will move on as finalists and be featured at the Nominate and Celebrate Community Picnic on June 2, held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

At the event, attendees will vote live to determine final grant placements. The first-place organization will receive a $2,500 grant, followed by $1,000 for second place and $500 for third.

The picnic serves as both a celebration and a reflection of the Island’s strong spirit of service, highlighting the nonprofits that support everything from child development and the arts to environmental preservation and community-building initiatives.

The Mackinac Island Community Foundation, based on the Island, provides grants to local nonprofit organizations with the goal of enhancing quality of life across the community.

Organizers encourage everyone connected to Mackinac Island to participate, noting that each vote helps shape how funding is distributed and which organizations are recognized for their meaningful contributions.
