The Mackinac Island Community Foundation has announced the top three finalists in its “Nominate and Celebrate” community grant program, with Mackinac Connect, Mackinac Marine Rescue, and the Mackinac Arts Council advancing to the final round of voting.
The community-driven initiative allows residents, seasonal workers, and Island supporters to help direct grant funding toward organizations making a meaningful impact on Mackinac Island.
Final voting will take place during the Nominate and Celebrate Picnic on Tuesday, June 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Great Turtle Park. In the event of rain, the gathering will move to the Mackinac Island Public School small gym.
Attendees at the picnic will cast live votes to determine the final grant placements. The first-place organization will receive a $2,500 grant, second place will receive $1,000, and third place will receive $500.
The event is designed to celebrate the nonprofits that help shape Island life while encouraging community involvement and support.
The three finalist organizations each serve different needs across Mackinac Island:
Mackinac Connect works to support seasonal and year-round workers through wellness programs, events, and community resources.
Mackinac Marine Rescue provides emergency response and water safety services throughout the Straits area.
Mackinac Arts Council promotes arts, culture, and creative programming on Mackinac Island.
The picnic is open to the public and offers community members a chance to connect with local organizations while helping determine how grant dollars will be distributed this year.
