Mackinac State Historic Parks will host its “Mackinac Birds & Blossoms” hike at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, beginning at the rear entrance of Fort Mackinac.

The guided walk will explore the wooded paths of Mackinac Island State Park, where spring wildflowers are in bloom and migrating songbirds are making their seasonal return to the Island.

Guests will meet Mackinac State Historic Parks Park Naturalist Kyle Bagnall behind Fort Mackinac at the Avenue of Flags entrance for a leisurely hike focused on blooming flowers, birds, and other signs of spring throughout the park.

The walk will cover approximately 1.5 miles and includes paved roads as well as trails with uneven terrain. Participants are encouraged to bring water and dress appropriately for changing weather conditions.

Programs like “Birds & Blossoms” are made possible in part through support from Mackinac Associates. The event is free to attend, though donations are welcome.
