Artists are invited to submit work for the 2026 juried art exhibition at The Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum on Mackinac Island. Hosted by Mackinac State Historic Parks, the exhibition, titled Echoes of the Island: A Journey Through Time, is accepting entries through Friday, February 27.

The exhibition encourages artists working in all media to reflect on Mackinac Island’s rich and storied past, from the sacred lands of the Anishinaabe people and Fort Mackinac’s military history to Victorian summer life and the island’s iconic horse-drawn transportation.

“The annual contemporary art contest continues to support the mission of The Richard & Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum by encouraging new artistic creations inspired by Mackinac Island,” said Mackinac State Historic Parks Director Steve Brisson.

Juror: Pasqua Warstler

The 2026 exhibition will be juried by artist Pasqua Warstler, whose work spans painting, collage, assemblage, printmaking, sculpture, and multimedia forms. Warstler describes herself as an “artist-dabbler,” guided by curiosity and a desire to explore new techniques and perspectives.

A graduate of Aquinas College with a BFA in drawing and painting, Warstler has spent decades as both an artist and arts advocate. Her career includes teaching internationally, developing community art programs across Michigan, and a 26-year tenure at the Bonifas Arts Center, where she served as Education Director, Gallery Director, and Executive Director. She has curated and presented a wide range of exhibitions, from Inuit and Egyptian art to American and regional works, and now looks forward to bringing that experience to Mackinac Island.
