The Mackinac Arts Council has announced a call for entries for Poetic Visions of Mackinac 2026, a beloved annual exhibition that pairs visual art with poetry inspired by the Island’s beauty, history, and lived experience.

The exhibition showcases original work by Mackinac Island Public School students and adult artists who live or work on the island seasonally or year-round. Each accepted piece of artwork is displayed alongside a poem that reflects or responds to the art, creating a uniquely collaborative and reflective experience.

Who Can Participate

The exhibit includes two artist categories:

  • Mackinac Island Public School (MIPS) students, with an unlimited number of featured works

  • Adult seasonal or year-round Mackinac Island residents, with up to 25 featured pieces selected by jury

Exhibition Details

Accepted artwork from both students and adult artists will be exhibited at the Center for the Arts, located on the grounds of Mission Point Resort, beginning in mid-June 2026.

The official opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 22, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and is open to the public.
