A SPRING PRODUCTION BRINGS AN OPEN CALL FOR LOCAL PERFORMERS

The Mackinac Island Community Theatre is gearing up for its spring production and is inviting island residents and employees to audition for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Auditions will be held February 4-5, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mackinac Island Community Hall. Participation is open to anyone who lives or works on Mackinac Island, and no previous stage experience is required.

Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script and sing. All audition materials will be provided, and no advance preparation is necessary. The theatre encourages anyone with interest, energy, and enthusiasm to come give it a try.

Those unable to attend auditions on the scheduled dates can reach out to director Conor Slatick to discuss alternative options.

Because Sweeney Todd contains adult themes, auditions are recommended for performers 18 and older. Participants should be comfortable working with mature subject matter, and parents are asked not to bring young children to auditions.

The production will take the stage April 17 and 18, 2026, with support from the Mackinac Arts Council and the Center for the Arts at Mission Point.

For those looking to try something new, meet fellow creatives, or return to the stage, auditions offer a chance to be part of one of the island’s most anticipated community theatre productions of the season.
