The Mackinac Island Lilac Festival Poster Contest has officially unveiled its Top 20 designs for 2026, and the creativity on display is nothing short of inspiring.

Each year, the annual poster contest invites artists from across the country to capture the spirit of Mackinac Island and interpret the festival’s theme through their own unique artistic lens. From watercolor and acrylic to digital illustration and mixed media, the contest celebrates both the Island’s iconic lilacs and the imagination of the artists who love it.

The selected Top 20 pieces represent a wide range of styles and perspectives, all inspired by the charm, color, and timeless beauty of Mackinac Island during lilac season. The winning design will become the official 2026 Lilac Festival poster and will be proudly displayed throughout the Island during the festival.

Now, the next step is up to you.

Peoples’ Choice voting is officially open from February 24 through March 10, giving the public a chance to help determine which piece will earn top honors. Community members, visitors, and Lilac Festival fans are encouraged to view the finalists and cast their vote online.

The Lilac Festival, one of Mackinac Island’s most beloved traditions, draws thousands of visitors each spring to celebrate the Island’s historic lilacs with some of the oldest and largest collections in North America. The poster contest has become a cherished part of that tradition, blending art, community, and Island pride.
